Wireless Access Points

Wi-Fi that knows when a client is compromised.

Sophos Wireless Access Points are enterprise-grade Wi-Fi 6 APs cloud-managed from Sophos Central. Optionally route traffic through a Sophos Firewall for deep inspection on the SSIDs that need it, and let Synchronized Security automatically quarantine clients flagged by Sophos endpoint protection.

Key Capabilities

Wi-Fi that pulls its weight in your security stack

Most wireless products end at “the signal is strong.” Sophos Wireless integrates with the rest of your Sophos Central stack so the AP isn’t just a radio - it’s a security enforcement point.

Wi-Fi 6 performance

802.11ax with OFDMA, MU-MIMO, BSS coloring, and target wake time. The performance and density of modern Wi-Fi 6, sized for client counts from one office to a stadium.

Cloud-managed

Configure SSIDs, RF settings, policies, and firmware updates from Sophos Central. No on-prem controller hardware to license, replace, or hide in a wiring closet.

Firewall-backed inspection

Per-SSID option to tunnel traffic through the Sophos Firewall for deep packet inspection, app control, and TLS inspection. Reserve heavy inspection for sensitive SSIDs only.

Synchronized Security

When Intercept X flags a host as compromised, the AP can automatically quarantine that client’s wireless connection. No analyst pivot, no manual MAC ban.

Guest portal & vouchers

Built-in captive portal with social login, voucher codes, and time-limited access. Ideal for hotels, clinics, retail, and any space serving non-employee Wi-Fi users.

PoE-powered

Indoor and outdoor models draw power over Ethernet from a Sophos switch or any standards-compliant PoE+ source. No separate power runs needed.

Deep Dive

Heavy inspection where you need it, line-rate where you don’t

Not every SSID needs deep packet inspection. The corporate VLAN handling line-of-business apps probably does. The guest network handing out coffee-shop-grade browsing probably doesn’t. Sophos Wireless lets you pick per SSID.

  • Per-SSID policy. Configure each SSID independently: local bridging for guest, firewall-tunneled for corporate, full TLS inspection for the regulated subnet.
  • Zero detour for low-risk traffic. Guest traffic bridges locally and exits through the firewall just like any other LAN traffic - no double-NAT, no performance hit.
  • Full inspection where it matters. Corporate SSIDs can route through the firewall’s Xstream engine for deep packet inspection, application control, and URL filtering on every connection.
  • Same management surface. All of this configuration lives in Sophos Central. No second console, no surprise “wireless controller” firmware to babysit.

Who Deploys It

Where Sophos Wireless earns its place

Wi-Fi that integrates with the rest of the security stack matters most where Wi-Fi IS the network - smaller offices, multi-site fleets, and high-density guest environments.

1

Office & retail SMBs

Single-site organizations where Wi-Fi is the main connectivity layer. Cloud-managed APs that share policy with the firewall mean one config story, not three vendors.

One vendor for the whole stack
2

Multi-site fleets

Retail chains, distributed clinics, and franchise networks. Push the same SSID, RF, and security policy to every location from Sophos Central; troubleshoot any site remotely.

Centralized policy at every site
3

Hospitality & high-guest environments

Hotels, conference centres, public spaces. Built-in voucher system, social login, captive portal, and per-SSID isolation keep guest networks compliant and easy to operate.

Pairs Well With

The wireless side of the network stack

Sophos Wireless is most useful as part of the broader Sophos Central network. These are the products it pairs with most often.

Sophos Firewall
Firewall

Sophos Firewall

The other half of firewall-backed Wi-Fi. SSIDs tunneled through the firewall get the same Xstream deep packet inspection as wired traffic, on whatever SSIDs you select.

Switching

Network Switches

PoE+ switches power the APs and deliver wired connectivity in the same Sophos Central console. The cleanest deployment is APs powered directly off Sophos switches.

Sophos Endpoint Protection
Endpoint

Endpoint Protection

Synchronized Security requires Sophos-protected endpoints. When the endpoint flags a threat, the wireless AP automatically quarantines the client at the network layer.
